Los Pleneros de la 21

The Puerto Rican music ensemble Los Pleneros de la 21 came to Williams for a concert-performance of bomba music and dance. The musicians and singers easily connected with the crowd and the beat of the drums beckoned everyone to dance for the entire evening. Some brave souls even tried a few bomba moves, and the group ended the night with lively plena song about their cariño for Puerto Rico. The performance was a wonderful way to highlight a vibrant culture and musical genre that has a rich transnational trajectory from Africa to Puerto Rico to Spanish Harlem (NYC) to Williamstown!
