Esthela Calderón will read from her latest work with translations by Steven White.

Esthela CalderónEsthela Calderón is poet, writer and instructor at St. Lawrence University. Her latest book of poetry, Soplo de corriente vital (2010), is a pioneering collection of ethnobotanical poems. Born in Nicaragua, she maintains close ties to the literary community there as the past Technical Coordinator for the International Rubén Darío Symposium, as the past Secretary General of the Association of Nicaraguan Women Writers, and she has written on the culture and history of Nicaragua and has offered readings from her own work.

Steven WhiteSteven White is Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures at St. Lawrence University. He has written and translated ecopoetry, and he is coauthor with his wife, Esthela, of the book, Culture and Customs of Nicaragua.
