The Silk Road of Books: Going Beyond the Medieval Codex

Dunhuang_star_map-229x181Susan Whitfield will introduce the great diversity of book forms in use along the Silk Road and show what we have learned of their development from the rich archaeological finds of the past century. She will discuss some of the great technological interchanges across Eurasia in this period; the impact of modern technologies on conservation, preservation and access to collections; and the question of forgeries.
