A Panel on Translation and Interpreting

If you know more than one language, or are generally interested in languages and linguistics, join us for a panel presentation on the topic of translation and interpreting with three local professionals.

The panel will feature the following local translation and interpreting professionals:

Laurie Benjamin is a certified interpreter with the Registry of Interpreters For The Deaf and has been interpreting for over 30 years. She now mostly works as a Video Relay Interpreter and freelancer. Over the years she has also taught ASL immersion and Deaf culture winter study courses at Williams. She also assembled a team and developed the interpreting program for a Deaf, ASL signing student that attended Williams and continues to interpret for the college as needed.

Camilo Bermudez is the owner of Berkshire Interpreting Services, LLC founded in 2015. Berkshire Interpreting Services, LLC provides interpreting and translation services in multiple languages for state agencies, law offices, medical practices, and public and private educational institutions. Camilo was born in Bogotá, Colombia and moved to the United States in 1991.

Patrick Schoorlemmer is a Partner at Advance Language Studios LLP, a family-owned translation agency based in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Over the course of 30 years at ALS, Patrick has managed thousands of translation projects for a wide range of corporate clients. He oversees all aspects of the translation process, including client communication, translator recruiting/engagement, project management and graphic design.
